Restoring God’s Queens
We’re here to help you get back on track when life’s circumstances have you off course.
DAUGHTERS OF ZION is a non-profit organization serving women who are single parents of diverse ethnicities. The DOZ mission is to improve the quality of life for single parents in the greater Los Angeles area. We collaborate with individuals, corporations and concerned entities to build a supportive network for these women in response to the plethora of issues which challenge their abilities to effectively parent and contribute to the community.
DOZ is addressing the rise in young women with children without a support system, assisting them so that children are not left home alone, vulnerable and without adequate supervision. Some single parents leave children home alone because of daycare cost or transportation.
According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007, released by the U.S. Census Bureau in November, 2009, there are approximately 13.7 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 21.8 million children (approximately 26% of children under 21 in the U.S. today).
The Typical Single Parent is a Mother:
-
Approximately 84% of custodial parents are mothers
-
16% of custodial parents are fathers
